At the Blue Olive Greek Taverna there is no special formula or elaborate recipes. It’s all about simple ingredients. Locally sourced meat and fish, the purest olive oil and fresh herbs and vegetables. True peasant food created in local villages and age-old recipes that have been passed down for generations by our grandmothers.

Community Involvement

At the Blue Olive Greek Taverna we strive to help where we can with local organizations, associations, hospitals, church groups, etc. Most recently we have donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association, St. George’s Church, Halifax GreekFest, and to a bursary for Sacred Heart School of Halifax.

Green Olive

Blue Olive Greek Taverna is doing its part to help make the city and the planet a greener, more eco-friendly place.

All refuse in our restaurant is meticulously sorted, from garbage, recyclables (plastic, metal, paper, cardboard, glass, etc.) and organic waste. We also dispose of our olive and vegetable oils in an eco-friendly way with a local recycler.

All of our take-out and delivery containers are made from recycled plastic, aluminum, paper and cardboard. Our kitchen team sources natural and organic options and continually works on bringing in more earth-friendly foods.

We are always looking to identify areas in which we can take more steps in our efforts to go green.
